In 2199, the merged worlds of humans and aliens teeter on the brink of war while megacorporations plunder the stars and a techno-virus births cyber-psychos from the Matrix’s haunted depths. Only the hidden mer-elves—last wielders of forgotten magic—stand between extinction and the awakening of the fantasy souls they imprisoned beneath the drowned Earth.

World Overview

It is the year 2199 and technology has had a very accelerated advance. We have begun exploring the Universe and all the planets of the solar-system have merged to create a grand society with aliens and humans. Magic is only found by us amongst mer-elves, humans and aliens have no innate connection or calling to it or any exposure to it. Humans and aliens don't even know mer-elves exist because the mer-elves have been in hiding within submerged cities and societies.

Geography & Nations

The continent of Africa has physically merged with Asia. The sea-levels have risen any some cities and states across the globe are completely submerged. This world includes all the planets in the solar system, along with various structures built in space. There are secret underwater societies in some cities where the land has been submerged. Aliens have grand kingdoms on their planets. Apart from rising sea-levels and continents merging, Earth geography is the same. Major geometry in Earth societies are built around technology. Nature has mostly been eradicated on Earth. Alien planets are mostly untouched by Aliens themselves, they allow the nature of their planets to thrive, and they believe they will thrive too.

Races & Cultures

Three major species are: 'Humans', 'aliens', 'mer-elves', and 'AI/robots'. Aliens have distinct and variable anatomy depending on their specific race (Martian, Jupitorian, etc.) Their behaviours are mostly unpredictable and are a very hard species to categorise. Mer-elves are mermaid/elf crossbreeds. Mer-elves are shunned by human and alien society and some members of the species believe they don't even exist. Humans inhabit mainly Earth and parts of other planets. Different Alien races inhabit the other planets and some are on Earth. Mer-elves inhabit underwater cities and some have smuggled themselves to planets that are mostly water. There are also some cross-breeds between the species. Mer-elf crossbreeds are extremely rare. Humans have the same culture they do in reality. However, they care for advancement and what the next big cultural shift will be. To compete culturally with aliens, technological implants and other innovation become a norm in society. Whereas Aliens are mostly beings obsessed with cosmos and are very traditional in their culture. They are similar to ancient indigenous societies in real-life, however they have access to cosmic technologies and abilities. They view themselves as one large species, rather than a species divided by race. Mer-elves are mostly incestual in ancestry as they hide form other societies and don't have any other-worldly beliefs. They remain living in secret as Aliens and humans don't really know they even exist. Within human cultures, megacorporations have formed that hold significant power of economy, politics, and technology. They are meant to be good corporations but they deal in many shady and underhanded and even criminal ways. Aliens speak alien lagnuages that can only be understood through translation. Most of their cultural practices are secret to humans. AIs and robots are manufactured and are an enslaved group. Some experimental groups have tried uploading their consciousness into them or using them as androids that can serve as romantic partners, children, or as friends. However, most are a slave race without many rights.

Current Conflicts

Some human and alien political parties are conflicting on territory and superiority as tensions rise. Some mer-elves have been revealing themselves to society and some conspiracy theories are starting to be more and more debated as their existence becomes more hypothesized. Megacorporations also look to see what they can harvest from Alien planets whilst aliens detest it. AIs, robots, and androids appear to be having an uprising and some appear to be becoming sentient.

Magic & Religion

The only species that have innate access to magic is the Mer-elves. Humans and aliens could have the potential to learn it, but it would take great effort, especially for aliens. It is impossible for AI, robots, or androids to use magic. Magic has been dormant since the 10th century and therefore is not common and nobody knows how to use it, some deny it even exists. Magic has been replaced with advanced technology: Hacking, augmentation, weaponry, software, structures, etc. 'The Matrix' is the main cyberspace hub for advanced technology. Alien technologies harness the power of celestial objects and radiation and are by far the most advanced technological species. There are some merging of alien technology with human. The prominent deities are mainly from Alien socieites. The deities fight for influence over aliens. Some want them to be peaceful beings, whilst others want them not to involve themselves with other species.

Planar Influences

'The Matrix' is a highly advanced cyberspace. Through advanced technology or alien technology, you can explore through it to perform various technological feats. However, within 'The Matrix' is 'The Scrap' which is a highly dangerous entity that lurks within The Matrix. It is believed that within this entity are rogue AIs ready to overcome the world. However, most people steer clear of it. For Mer-elves, their connection to magic is somewhat weakened compared to regular fantasy worlds. That is due to them trapping the souls and essence of all other fantasy species (Orcs, trolls, dwarves, typhlings, dragons, etc.) within their own magical plane. However, this plane is inescapable for those without strong magic like the elves.

Historical Ages

In the 9th century, Orcs ruled the world. All other fantasy species formed an alliance to overthrow them, but the Elves betrayed the other species and committed a genocide against them. Elves were banished from society and were forced to go in hiding. Human history played out as it does in real life thereafter. Slowly, all other species went extinct apart from Humans being the most prominent, and some elf societies that are in hiding. In 2077, AIs, robots, and androids started becoming mainstream. Then, in 2100 aliens and humans went to war as both species clashed for power. In the 2110s a peace treaty was formed, but there was still tensions. Elves realised they were only safe in cities submerged in water as humans have still yet to discovery the secrets hidden in the ocean. As the only magic-wielding species left, they used their magic to adapt to the ocean and become like mermaids, ultimately making them mer-elves.

Economy & Trade

Earth has a collective currency called "Luxi" with the plural being "Luxa". Aliens don't use economical currency, instead they make mutual understandings and share amongst themselves, but they have begun using "Luxi" to make trade with humans possible. Technology is so advanced that some objects and matter can be digitalised and sent via 'The Matrix' across the solar system for trade. Other trade on Earth can happen through drones and trade on other planets are carried out in many advanced ways, however they enjoy using very traditional methods. Mer-elves are once again, a hidden society and must stealthily steal anything they need that would come from human or alien societies. AI, robots, and androids are seen as expendable by humans and aliens and can be used as lucrative bargaining chips.

Law & Society

With the emergence of aliens, overpopulation is such a big issue that most law is dealt by the commonfolk. High profile crimes are dealt with by courts across human and alien species, but there is plenty of crime on the streets that go unnoticed and it has almost become a norm that society deals justice however it sees fit. Mer-elves are very strict within their society. They are willing to kill members of their species for the sake of preserving themselves. They view adventure as risky, humans and aliens see it as acceptable/don't really care. Some alien races allow divine intervention from their deities to deal with criminals. AI, robot, or android criminals that somehow deviate are digitalised and sent to the scrap or they're broken down for parts.

Monsters & Villains

Cyberpsychos threaten the world. Cyberpsychos are humans or aliens that have been exposed to a very specific techno-virus caused by 'The Scrap.' Faulty AI, robots, and android can get it too. They are overcome by a virus that seeks to feed the power of the matrix. They go insane and are completely unpredictable. Only people with technological implants can encounter this virus, treatment involves HEAVY techno-therapy. Alien symbiotes also threaten the world. These symbiotes join with a host and seek to enslave them for a hive-mind, the hive-mind can influence the actions of the host mind. Mer-elves that have become corrupt with the thoughts and trauma of their past ancestor's committing genocide threaten the safety and secrecy of the mer-elf societies. They can experience this through deep magical meditations gone wrong when they encounter the trapped souls of other species that are now extinct. There are some rowdy protest groups of human nature that despise and discriminate against aliens, it isn't the majority of humans but it is a loud minority. Groniens are an alien cult that worship the hivemind and have been known to be rather problematic for aliens and humans alike. There are various other smaller gangs amongst humans.
