In a world where sunrise and sunset are the last fading whispers of forgotten magic, empires of harpies, draken, elves and men clash over crumbling ruins that still pulse with power no one remembers how to wield. Beneath a lonely Academy’s parlor tricks, ancient artifacts sleep—waiting for the day someone rekindles the lost arts and turns the tide of wars that could erase every kingdom from the map.

World Overview

Low magic in the way that there is magic, but much have been forgotten and kept hidden as ancient treasures and secrets. Magic still exists though, it's just that most people have forgotten how to access and use it. It shows its face in the colours of the sky at sunrise and sunset, in glow of the forgotten ruins, crypts and old growth forests be it of woods in the lands, snowy tundras of the mountains, deep seaweed and coral forests of the depths or the blistering heat in the sands of the desert. Magic exists, but People generally don't know what it is anymore. They attribute some of it to science and some of it to the occult myths of ancient days past. The technology level of the world is that of earths late medieval era, like most of the typical dungeons and dragons adventures. Mostly wood, stone and more basic metallurgy.

Geography & Nations

There are several major kingdoms with grand cities and nomad tribes that walk the variying geographic locations within the world itself. Most noteworthy: The Idal Empire of harpies lies in the Arabel mountains to the east. They are in constant conflict with the Human nations surrounding it, but has a neutral tenuous alliance with the Trolls of the old growth forests to the south of the Arabel mountains. The Sunset Kingdom of Blyss in the deep south of the continent. A sandy but old nation that has many dungeons filled with mythical beasts and some notion of what might be considered magic. They are also slavers. There is The Arcaden Magical Academy on the lonely island in the great sea of Dunlap, where old men and women try to make the rest of the world believe that they are as powerful as the archmages of old. Though most of their magic is pathetic and weak cheap parlor tricks, there is much much more magic and powerful artefacts sealed away from them above and below the Academy, waiting to be unlocked or perhaps in hiding? Then there are the Draken Clans of the west, Greedy and defiant to all who attempt to take their cities by force. Their walls where constructed using the hides and bones of their ancestor dragons when those still walked the earth, (though a few still remain in hiding from all, because we you're an ancient dragon of a few hundred millenia ofcourse you're going to keep to yourself and keep your infinitely prescious horde of gems, magic and artefacts from prying eyes!) In the north lies the Great Forests of Old, (or Elven Territories, if you are from the Draken cities) The elves still remain, though dwindled in their number, they are almost as powerful as in the ancient times, but they hide themselves and their powerful magic from others. Few ever venture out of their forests and all other races keep away because they know better than to try to attack the Slumbering Woods of Yore. And then there are a few mixed nations of humans, dwarves, beastfolk and other races mixed around these greater nations.

Races & Cultures

Draken (draconians, humanoids): They strongly dislike and look down upon humans, dwarves, trolls, goblins, halflings and the cheap parlor trick magicians of the Academy. Elves: They keep to themselves, whisper in their groves about old tales, techniques and sciences. They look down upon everyone who isn't as learned as themselves. Harpys: They keep to their mountains in the east, hate humans, likes Trolls and Dwarves (for some reason) Humans: They want to go every where, take everything and behave like most humans do. Arrogant, hoity toity, Inquisitive, Friendly. Some humans just want to bond and be friends, other Humans want to dominate the other races, kill all and satisfy their greed. Dwarves: They keep to themselves in their great mines and fortresses deep underground, mining, brewing and cheering. They respect the trolls and are neutral towards the humans. They hate the Draken and dream about the elves. Trolls: They don't really care about others, the harpys are nice though, but hard to comprehend. Goblins are okay, neutral unless they are mean to the harpys. Halfings and beastfolk just try to make ends meet and drift around either as common folk, peasant or as bandits on the roads. Goblins Chaotic neutral usually, sometimes friendly and good, sometimes hateful and evil. (kinda like humans) The are clan based nomads mostly, they roam the world as merchants, mercenaries and sometimes bandits. Depends on the clan really. There is a clan of goblins called the Cobbler Gobblers, because they really like shoes, and will do anything to get more shoes.

Current Conflicts

Harpies in the east are in war with the humans. Draken are in a stalemate with the humans and southern cities. Trolls are neutral Goblins are chaotic neutral Beastfolk and halflings just try to make a living, be it as peasants, merchants, mercernaries or just common folk. Humans try to expand. Elves don't care about the world, but will defend themselves and kill anyone that enters their forests. The Arcaden Academy dreams of ages past and wants to uncover more magic
