In a world where a modern cataclysm has collapsed civilization to a vibrant, low‑magic medieval age, survivors wrestle for land and power while gods and fabled monsters spill through rifts into a sky brightened by new moons and constellations. Amid crumbling skyscraper ruins, budding kingdoms barter with precious metals, and brave adventurers forge uneasy peace between rival factions, all while ancient deities vie for dominance over this reborn realm.

World Overview

There was a cataclysmic event during the modern era that caused all technology to fail, pushing the world back hundreds of years to a more primitive medieval time. The change in the world saw the rebirth of medieval life return with hints of low magic, as that could be the only explanation for why the world had suddenly and violently changed. Now, only a few years after this event, we see man and animal-powered farming return, blacksmithing and crafting, and the beginnings of some magic. The world even looks different, brighter in the sky, and more vibrant. Even the moon, well, now moons, are bigger in the night sky; and there do seem to be new constellations as well.

Geography & Nations

Small factions of survivors are being built up. There are no major kingdoms yet, and any of the large cities of the world have turned into dangerous zones of people who did not adapt nicely to the world.

Races & Cultures

Everyone is human, but the changes in the world seem to have affected some people differently, leading to the early beginnings of new races that resemble characters from fantasy books.

Current Conflicts

The conflicts are gaining land to create kingdoms to provide for communities and people, trying not to get subjugated to tyrannical rule.

Magic & Religion

Only a few people can use magic: those who strongly believed it was real before the changing of the world and those who had the capacity to believe it could ever exist. One thing no one was expecting was the entirely real pantheon of gods that showed up to aid and hinder, hoping to become the ultimate deities of this new world.

Planar Influences

Rifts will occasionally appear deep underground that allow monsters to enter this new world.

Historical Ages

The legacy of the modern world is now ruins. Old vehicles are now scrapped, and ruins, buildings that used to reach the sky, are now collapsing and being scavenged.

Economy & Trade

Trade and bartering for all useful items is beginning to become the major economy. Precious gems and metals are trying to be standardized into a common currency.

Law & Society

Each kingdom has its own laws and order, and a force to keep them. There are often bandits in the wilds that do not get governed, and adventurers who are hired to help keep the common peace between kingdoms, the civilizations, and the wild.

Monsters & Villains

Monsters from fables and creatures from other planes are entering the world. Cults devoted to evil gods and creatures, as well as trying to bring back the old world by any means.
