In Dawn Song: Sundered Sky, the earthbound realm of Brightbloom clings to ancient faith and fire‑wrought prayer while the sky‑borne City of Stormlight races toward neon‑lit progress, each led by serpentine dragon‑deities Pyrus and Voltarys. Their bitter clash over dwindling resources is only the surface of a deeper crisis, as the decaying world is besieged by Hollow—flesh‑and‑steel abominations that threaten to consume both faith and circuitry alike.

World Overview

The world of Dawn Song: Sundered Sky is split between two different civilizations and runs familiar themes of nature versus progress and technology while being mystical in theme. This is a fantasy kingdom that is both medieval and futuristic, depending on which part of it you're in. Both nations are led by a dragon-diety with elemental abilities. The nature-grounded civilizationm remains on the ground, while the futuristic civilization floats in the sky. The ground people go on pilgrimmagers with their priestess to restore the damaged areas of their world, the sky people perform expeditions on the surface to salvage what resources they can before it's too late.

Geography & Nations

Ground: A village settlement called Brightbloom. Mystic camps, stone temples, forests and natural features that have been decaying and drained. Think dead forests, dried lakes, etc. Dragon statues, signs of worship, holy places, etc. Sky: A floating fortress known as the City of Stormlight. Blue and green motifs, strange architecture. No sign of dragon worship, instead, billboards, signs, etc. Neon lights, futuristic designs powered by energy cores and burgeoning artificial intelligence.

Races & Cultures

The ground people are deeply spiritual and believe everything should come from and return to the earth. Their guardian deity is Pyrus, a long, serpentine fire dragon whom they still worship. They use prayer and faith. The sky people are pushing progress and are technologically advanced, living in sky cities. They are dependent on ground resources to grow their city. Their guardian deity is Voltarys, a long, serpentine electric dragon whom they drew their energy from but may no longer want. They use AI. The ground people want to save their world and nurture it back to life. The sky people want to leave it before it's too late.

Current Conflicts

The sky people and the surface people are at odds with one another over resources and ideologies. Once united, they separated along with their dragon deities at an unknown point in time. The surface people believe in their land and protecting it, the sky people believe in progress and leaving it behind. The land is slowly decaying and ripe with monsters known as the Hollow, strange abominations of flesh and metal with dangerous weapons and power.

Magic & Religion

Voltarys (sky people, electric and energy) and Pyrus (ground people, fire and faith) are the guardian dragon deities. Magic is tied directly to their blessings. On the ground, only the Priestess of Fire can commune directly due to the land being so badly ravaged. In the sky, nobody directly harnesses from the dragon but instead from cores derived from it's energy. This is the secret of the male MC, he can commune directly but nobody is aware of that yet.

Planar Influences

The Hollow is invading their world, but they are not sure what it is beyond a corruption that manifests in powerful and dangerous amalgamations of flesh and steel.

Historical Ages

In ancient times, both civilizations lived on the surface with their deities. At some point, they split. The Hollow appear to be made of flesh and steel, meaning there must have been a more advanced society at some point that no longer exists.

Economy & Trade

Brightbloom and Stormlight do not interact directly. They have their own economies within each other, with Brightbloom using traditional coin and Stormlight being more advanced and using some sort of digital currency.

Law & Society

Brightbloom prioritizes spirituality and nature. They exist to restore and protect their home in the name of their deity. They make pilgrimages regularly to commune with nature and bring gifts and boons to help restore it's fading beauty. They should be led by Priests, with the Priestess of Fire their sort of 'chosen' one who is close to Pyrus. Stormlight is much more modern. They should have a government, a law system. They descend to the surface to retrieve resources. They should be ruled by some sort of council that relies on their growing AI database.

Monsters & Villains

Outside of the conflict between both races, the Hollow exist as a powerful dark entity that nobody understands. They are monsters of flesh and steel, with powerful weaponry and bloodlust. They should be tied to the larger threat, a Hollow Dragon who can rival the deities.
