In a world where magic has become a scarce, enslaved commodity, the Visionary Corps stands as the last bulwark against a resurgence of ancient, abyssal horrors leaking from a weakening Veil of Mystery, while rival cities vie for power in a fragile democracy born of rebellion. Amidst this turmoil, humanity’s fragile alliance with elves, dwarves, and dragonborns teeters on the edge of extinction, as the fragile balance between technological innovation and the fading arcane threatens to unravel the very fabric of the realm.

World Overview

After the century war held to fight against the foreign gods ended, the age magic and mystery began to slow down. Magic became a rarity and a useful one at that. Due to how scarce it is, The world began to enslave mages to use as their tools. To combat this, the world began to build up a mage association called the Visionary Corps to combat unnecessary violence and illegal abducting against mages. Though magic has begun to fade, it's influence is still apparent on this world as technology has begun to integrate magic into its innovation.

Geography & Nations

The major cities of the lands of gathering lie with those who hold a large group on history. New Arman used to hold most of the territory in the continent before they fell at the hands of their own prince due to all the corruption that Old Arman used to conduct. Aside from that, Heracule city is the second most important city behind New Arman due to all the riches they possess. Currently, Heracule city is the biggest player in the market. Tsumuhi City is a self isolated city that keeps a down low to their political affairs due to it not wanting to garner or attract too much attention. Port town lies in the middle of all those cities, separated only by sea. Due to its strategic location, port town has become a safe haven for fishermen and the fishery business.

Races & Cultures

The humans hold the majority of the territory. Other races like elves, dwarves, and dragonborns are under protection by the humans to avoid extinction. Though most humans don't care, some find the other races weird and at times off putting.

Current Conflicts

After the hunt for the last stray god ended, The heroes of the journey left for another world. Leaving all those who practiced the Path in disarray and disorder. Aside from that, magic has begun to lose its influence in the world due to the Veil of Mystery, and due to that, magic has become a scarce, but precious source. Without proper enforcement of laws, the world became subject to enslavement and depravity. To combat it, Heracule, Tsumuhi, Arman, as well as the Van Helsing Hunters Association has established a peace keeping corps called the Visionary Corps that deals with the protection of mages and abolishment of slavery in the world. The war between the underworld and the visionary corps is still ongoing. And more issues begin to arrive after the Veil of Mystery was found to be weakening, letting dangerous creatures that were hidden from the world to come spilling out.

Magic & Religion

Magic is a burden of the knowledgeable. Those who wield magic are expected to register into the Visionary corps lest they be hunted down to be enslaved. The religion in Alea Iacta Est vary. There are those who still worship the old paths such as the Truth who endow themselves in self study and believe that all things in this world have an answer to them, or the Journey, a path that encourages its followers to travel the world and explore its beauty, The Forging, a path that enforces its followers to create and ensure safety for it's generations and beyond.

Planar Influences

The only other planes that can interact with the material world are the Celestial fragments and the abyss. The Celestial fragments hold gods whose influence can shake the world however, choose not to as exposure to the human world can corrupt their own power and belief and so, they choose to watch instead. The abyss holds corrupted gods such as The Destruction and Obscuro who wish for humanity's collapse into their own vision of a perfect world. However, their influence is too weak to reach to the human world as they can only influence or imbue power in the humans but physically alter the world itself.

Historical Ages

Before this era, there was the era of the tarnished. The era of the tarnished was an era where and evil god called Obscuro was unleashed on the world cloaking it in an endless night. Due to its reign, concepts like age started to fade and the people back then could only wait to be corrupted into the shadows of Obscuro to die. To combat this, The humans back then summoned heroes from olden days to fight against Obscuro. However, most heroes ended up failing to fight against Obscuro as they fell into Obscuro themselves or were defeated by an Heir of Obscuro. It wasn't until 3 great heroes named Dan, Mandible, and Oddyseus were summoned. Through their efforts and some others, they were able to stop the endless night, bringing its reign to an end. After that, civilization stabilized. Entering an era of Novum. In the era of Novum, Civilizations were rebuilt through monarchies. It wasn't until the Arman Kingdom decided to wage territorial wars that the world's politics started to change. The prince of Arman, Argus, saw Arman's corruption that he decided to abolish monarchy and develop Democracy to replace it. It is said that though Argus was said to have died through the Arman Trials as he was hanged, that he still wanders the world due to a lovers curse placed on him. During the Novum era, A path called the Path of Mystery decided to crate the Veil of Mystery which trapped entities in the veil so that they cannot interfere with human life. However, some races and branches of knowledge were wiped from history because of this. In retaliation, the Truth decided to eradicate the Mystery. Leaving the oath to be abandoned.

Law & Society

Law is mostly delivered under a branch of the Van Helsing Hunters Association called the Humanic Ordeals. The Humanic Ordeals work together with the Visionary Corps in matters related to mages however have their own hand in human crimes and society. The Humanic Ordeal hunters are seen as law enforcers. The Van Helsing Hunters Association themselves deal with eliminating beasts and dangerous creatures that manage to come out of the Veil of Mystery.

Monsters & Villains

The veil of mystery was erected by the old path, the Path of Mystery that hid old dangerous creatures that could threaten the world in the veil. The creatures contained within the veil could not directly interfere with the material plane and thus have been dormant within the veil for years. Until, cultists of a chaotic path, the Path of Entropy decided that the veil should be revealed in order to continue mankind's next phase. Their efforts have mostly failed however, continued efforts by the Entropy may prove to be harmful in the long run as the veil seems to be weakening under The Entropy's effort.
