In the high‑magic realm of Gaia, three diverse kingdoms—Polaris, Terra, and Hytra—each guard a sacred relic gifted by the gods, while a looming threat from Polaris’s dark king threatens to shatter a millennium‑old treaty and unleash ancient evils from the Shadow plane. Amidst bustling trade, steam‑powered airships, and a society that welcomes adventurers, the fragile alliance between Terra and Hytra races against time to uncover lost temples and prevent the gods’ sealed darkness from breaking free.

World Overview

High magic realm. Similar to the 1600's in western Europe. Back at the beginning of time, the gods came to Gaia and gave each kingdom a sacred relic to help them prosper and grow. The gods told the kings and queens that the artifacts must never be joined and held by any single mortal otherwise the power would corrupt them and risk destroying the world.

Geography & Nations

There are 3 major kingdoms on a large and diverse planet. The Kingdom of Polaris is located in the north, with mountains and deep evergreen forests, the coldest kingdom, famous for mining, masonry and fur trade. Polaris has a purple and silver banner with a howling wolf. In the middle is the Kingdom of Terra, fertile lands, beautiful woods and moderate weather. Terra is known for lumber, farming, and its colleges. Terra's banner is red and gold with an owl. In the south, there is the Kingdom of Hytra, partially on the mainland but also made of many beautiful islands. Hytra is known for textiles, seafoods, arts, sailing as it has a sunny and tropical climate. The banner of Hytra is aqua and teal with a golden sun.

Races & Cultures

There are a few different races, such as humans, elves, dwarves, hobbits, and even animal humanoid races. There is no racism in Gaia.

Current Conflicts

The dark king of Polaris is on the verge of breaking the thousand-year-old treaty and seeks to build an army to invade the two other kingdoms to take their sacred artifacts. Terra and Hytra have become closer allies in an effort to protect boarders and prevent war. Tensions are high.

Magic & Religion

everyone has the ability to learn and use some magic, most are simple spells that are not dangerous. Stronger magic is rarer, and the possibilities are endless. There are schools to learn magic, but the most talented are natural born sorcerers. The lore of the gods has been lost through time, though there are still plenty of old ruins and temples waiting to be discovered that would reveal more about the creators and their influences on the world.

Planar Influences

There is a Shadow plane, home to dark creatures, demons and lost souls. The Shadow plane is where necromancers are able to summon their minions from to do their bidding. Then there is the Farplane, a realm where spirits go after life to enjoy eternity, full of memories and light.

Historical Ages

There has always been a rumor that a Divine Temple existed, that was built by the gods, intended to be a place to unite the kingdoms, it has never been found, but many believe it to be real as some swear on their travels they have seen a stone cathedral that looked from another world, and then just vanishes.

Economy & Trade

Trade by land and sea is common. the currency is the same for all kingdoms. People and goods can be transported by horse, wagon, boats, ships and the occasional steam powered airships.

Law & Society

The justice system is strong, and usually not corrupt. Crimes have fair punishments; the death sentence is only used for the most extreme crimes. Adventurers are usually welcome as they can keep the monsters and fiends away from towns and villages. Many are also hired to help with hauntings and to explore ancient ruins in search of treasures or artifacts that help understand the history of the world. Some steam power and plumbing exist for a few conveniences

Monsters & Villains

There is a wide variety of monsters and fiends, some unique to each kingdom and environment. There also exists demons, werewolves, undead thralls and nature spirits. There has also been lore of a great evil that the gods locked away from the world before they gave the kingdoms the relics, and a prophecy etched on an obsidian tablet claiming the great evil will find a way to break free and try and take over the world.
