In the sprawling, sky‑piercing megacities of Grimdark Future, human factions clash with bio‑engineered Genesplicers and demonic incursions while ancient, hidden tech and raw interdimensional magic threaten to unravel reality itself. Amid martial law and power‑hungry coups, mercenary adventurers navigate a world where every gunshot, spell, and corrupted soul could tip the balance between survival and annihilation.

World Overview

The universe is in constant conflict and wars rage across the galaxy. Many different races travel the galaxies and war against other groups to defend their territory, expand influence, or consume resources. There is influence from many different old gods, world creators, and chaotic entities. Technology is futuristic, but not well understood. Some races use bioengineered weapons and spacecraft, while others use ancient powerful technology that has remained hidden from the world. Guns and ranged weaponry is very common. There is a wide range of different technologies and philosophies around the use of technology. Magic is rare and limited to select races or certain individuals that have been corrupted by power from outside our dimension.

Geography & Nations

The story takes place on a crowded human world with vast gigantic cities that extend both far into the sky and deep underground. There are power struggles within the main city of the story, but similar events are transpiring in the other cities across the planet. There is a portion of the planet that is consumed by corruption and sees regular incursions from demons and other twisted entites.

Races & Cultures

The cities are inhabited by humans of varying castes. There are small bands of humans called Genesplicers which have aligned themselves to aliens that focus on bioengineering and have modified their bodies. Demons and other twisted entities inhabit the corrupted areas of the planet and also seek to corrupt the human population. There are a different group of superhuman soldiers called Mace Sparines that are in charge of planetary defence.

Current Conflicts

The Genestealers are attacking the city to scavenge for resources and get new recruits. The Demons try to influence human minds and corrupt them to their cause. A failed coup in the main city has created political struggles within the city itself and many of the different group leaders are vying for power.

Magic & Religion

Magic is raw power from outside of this dimension. Only select individuals who are sensitive to this energy and can harness its power. Magic is not as common within humans, but the Demons are essentially pure beings of energy and corruption. There are many gods and entities that are considered deities that influence the world from outside of time and space, but there are many ancient beings that have physical form and are immensely powerful.

Planar Influences

Other planes influence the material world indirectly, but also through tears in reality.

Historical Ages

The cities have been in place for some time, but the recent appearance of demons has caused problems on the planet.

Economy & Trade

Credits are the main currency in the city. The planet harvests and processes raw materials for use in construction, spacecraft, and weaponry. Many different sub trades exist in the city to support all the individuals that live there.

Law & Society

Close to martial law. Authority is based on who has enough brawn to enforce their will. Adventurers are seen as mercenaries and given plenty of work.

Monsters & Villains

Demons, corrupted humans, Genesplicers, old gods of chaos.
