In High Haven’s Caress, every breath you take is raw magic and every neighbor is a potential battlefield, for the tropical cradle of nine proud kingdoms was shattered by The Defilement into a patchwork of polite enemies who smile within their cities and draw blades at the border. Adventurers alone walk unhindered through the moss-draped capitals and cloud-crowned peaks, wielding the world’s own living spell-stuff while the nameless gods of storm, stone, and tide watch in silent judgment.

World Overview

High magic, low to mid technology.

Current Conflicts

The kingdoms and cities are always in a state of warfare with each other, but remain completely docile within their own kingdoms and cities. There is no hesitation to fight against outside cities or kingdoms when met with a challenge to do so. An event known as The Defilement split the kingdoms apart from one unified empire, severing the ties between each other and rendering them as opposing forces against each other. There is open hostility when mentioning other kingdoms, but all are completely satisfied with being docile and friendly when other kingdoms are not brought up.

Magic & Religion

Magic: Anyone can use magic. Magic is part of the very air that people breathe as well as the ground beneath their feet. Magic is in everything, and can be harnesses through whatever means someone finds available. Deities are few and far between, and have no recognizable names. They are forces of nature, and are referred to by their impact their influence has on on the world's weather, geography, ecosystems, and history.

Economy & Trade

Copper, Silver, and Gold coins are uses globally. 100 copper to a silver coin and 100 silver to a gold coin. Sea travel and caravan land travel are the normal trade routes used to transport goods, services, and financial provisions across the country. The entire country utilizes the coin system, bartering, and exchanging favours as a means of payment for the economy.

Law & Society

Societies view adventurers with respect, seeing them as excluded from the strife of political affairs between kingdoms. They are free to travel from kingdom to kingdom in search of work and service, with some exception in specific kingdoms. Justice is administered by the people, with public judgement being left to the civilian populace and the offended party. The kingdom's enforcement is a last resort, preferring to let the people sort their issues out themselves.
