In Katharta, the elemental periodic table hums with raw magic while sleek technology hums in tandem, creating a world where a talking cat can negotiate treaties and a mind‑reading wizard can debug a quantum engine. Three rival factions—mages, engineers, and technophobes—vie for dominance over a single kingdom, all while a shadowy cabal orchestrates their clashes and a handful of chosen souls slip between realities in trance‑induced dreams.

World Overview

This is a world where advanced magic combines with advanced technology, where the periodic table of elements itself is infused with magic. Everything is fantastic and chaotic and the people are extremely diverse and varied, but also incredibly eccentric.

Geography & Nations

A single kingdom, Katharta, with 3 major urban centers and a sprawl of suburbs connecting them. There are rural areas near the midpoints between the urban centers. We have three factions. One wields magic, one wield technology, and one abhors both magic and technology. Each faction occupies and controls a single urban center.

Races & Cultures

It's pretty much all human, but occasionally one will encounter a talking dog or cat that can become a party member.

Current Conflicts

The three factions are constantly at odds, but typically the magical faction and the technological faction ally themselves against the faction that abhors magic and technology. It seems like there's a shadowy organization in the background pitting the three against each other

Magic & Religion

The gods are chaotic and varied. Magic isn't granted by the deities, it's inherent to the individual. People think it might be due to extraterrestrial intervention in ancient times, but the fact is that some some people are simply able to control the elements with their mind, while others are able to read minds. Magic is all-encompassing and the paranormal is normal in this high-tech society.

Planar Influences

Certain individuals can experience alternate realities. It requires a specific meditative trance and we don't know what allows it, but there are people who can leave this reality and enter into another.
