Step into Old Greg’s Endless Cellar, where a spiral staircase plunges through fifty wildly divergent worlds—each floor a pocket of alien magic, futuristic cities, or haunted mansions—awaiting daring adventurers to claim the legendary Return Gate. Here, reality frays, mana awakens, and every descent offers a perilous choice: escape to home or surrender to the depths that never truly end.

World Overview

In the centre of the tavern is a large spiral staircase descending into darkness. Greg gestures toward it. “That’s the cellar.” Except it isn’t really just a cellar. Beneath the tavern lies The Endless Cellar, a massive dungeon descending through fifty known floors — each one a completely different world. Each floor has its own rules, creatures, environments, and challenges. Some resemble fantasy realms. Others resemble alien worlds, futuristic cities, haunted mansions, pirate seas, prehistoric jungles, or anything from any known fantasy universe. Nobody knows why these worlds exist down there. Greg claims the tavern sits on a tear in reality, pulling pieces of other universes into the dungeon. If you want to return to your world, you must descend through the dungeon. The only known exit appears on Floor 50. At the centre of the fiftieth floor is a mysterious structure known as The Return Gate. Anyone who reaches it is given a choice: Return to their home world Stay and continue deeper into the cellar Because the truth is…The dungeon doesn’t end at Floor 50. No one knows how deep it goes. Advancement System in Old Greg’s Endless Cellar The Descent Gate Path 1 – The Quest Stair If the adventurer completes the floor quest, the Quest Stair opens. Path 2 – The Boss Stair If the adventurer kills the Floor Boss, the Boss Stair opens. You can choose to do both.

Magic & Religion

Magic System of the Endless Cellar Magic in the world of Old Greg’s Tavern does not naturally exist in the outside worlds most adventurers come from. Instead, magic is a system created by the Endless Cellar itself. The moment an adventurer steps onto the first stair leading into the cellar, the dungeon recognizes them and grants them a magical resource called Mana. This is how adventurers gain the ability to use magic within the dungeon. Outside the cellar, most adventurers cannot use magic at all. The Awakening of Mana As soon as an adventurer enters the cellar, they experience what is known as The Awakening. Adventurers describe the sensation as: warmth spreading through their body symbols briefly appearing in their vision a sudden awareness of power they didn’t have before At this moment, the dungeon assigns them a Mana Pool. This mana represents the amount of magical energy they can use before needing to recharge. Every adventurer receives a different amount of mana based on their class and abilities. Mana Points Mana Points (MP) are the fuel used to activate abilities, spells, and magical skills. Every magical action costs a certain number of Mana Points. Examples: Small spell: 5–10 MP Moderate spell: 20–30 MP Powerful spell: 50+ MP Once an adventurer’s mana reaches zero, they can no longer use magical abilities until it is replenished. Class-Based Mana Pools The dungeon automatically assigns mana amounts based on the adventurer’s combat style or class. Mage-Type Classes High mana pools but physically weaker. Example starting mana: 120–150 MP Hybrid Classes (Battlemage, Paladin, Ranger) Balanced mana pools. Example starting mana: 70–100 MP Physical Classes (Warrior, Rogue, Barbarian) Lower mana pools but stronger physically. Example starting mana: 30–50 MP Replenishing Mana Mana does not naturally regenerate inside the dungeon. Instead, adventurers must restore it using items found throughout each floor. Mana Potions The most common source of mana restoration. These glowing blue potions are found in: treasure chests abandoned camps enemy loot hidden rooms Different potions restore different amounts. Examples: Minor Mana Potion Restores 25 MP Standard Mana Potion Restores 50 MP Greater Mana Potion Restores 100 MP Magical Food (Sustained Mana Regeneration) Food found within the dungeon provides gradual mana restoration over time instead of an instant refill. This allows adventurers to slowly regain magical energy while continuing to explore. Magical foods vary depending on the theme of the floor. Examples include: glowing mushrooms in forest floors enchanted bread in medieval worlds alien fruit in extraterrestrial environments energy ration bars in futuristic worlds Typical effects: Simple magical meal Restores 2–3 MP per minute for 30 minutes High quality enchanted food Restores 5–7 MP per minute for 30 minutes Rare magical feasts Restore 10 MP per minute for 20 minutes Food is ideal for long dungeon exploration, allowing adventurers to maintain steady mana levels without wasting potions. Rare Mana Wells Some floors contain Mana Wells, natural sources of magical energy. Standing near a Mana Well slowly restores mana. However, they are often guarded or located in dangerous areas. Religion isn't going to help you here.
