World Overview

Based off the anime One Piece, this world takes place eleven years after the death of Gol D. Roger and at the same time the manga and anime starts, taking place during the Golden Age of Piracy. Magic is divided into three categories, Devil Fruits, Haki and "Demonic Powers" granted to certain people in the group known as the World Government. Technology is considered to be low, but weapons such as guns and weapons designed by the smartest people in the world exist. Finally, there are many factions to choose from around the world, such as Pirates, Navy, The Revolutionary Army and the World Government, which is connected to the Navy. Each country around the world also has there own military forces.

Geography & Nations

This world is mainly made up of ocean, divided into four sections named the North, South, East and West Blue. The most important part of the world is The Grand Line, an area that leads into the most important yet dangerous parts of the world. Directly opposite of The Grand Line is the Red Line, a massive wall/land mass that blocks off parts of the world. Sitting on opposite sides of the Grand Line lies the Calm Belt, a part of the ocean that has no movement at all, causing ships stuck in the Calm Belt to get stuck. Inside the waters of the world lies massive beasts called Sea Kings, who attack ships as a food source. Islands are spread throughout the world, each having different cultures, land mass shapes, people and governments. Islands can be claimed by the many different factions, primarily under Pirate or World Government control. The most important island or land mass is Mary Geoise, the home of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons, the world's nobles.

Races & Cultures

The most common race is Humans, with the highlight of the race being the World Nobles, people with powerful connections due to their bloodline, thus they believe themselves to be gods. Following them is Fish-Men, half-fish, half-human who are modeled after certain types of fish, they primarily live on Fish-Men Island, but are spread throughout the world. Following them is Giants, massive humanoids who live on their home island of Elbaf. Less common races are Merfolk (Mermaids) , Skypiens (Sky People) , Minks (Animal People) , Tontatta (Fairy Humans) and Lunarians, a nearly extinct race that can manipulate fire and have wings that allow for flight. The World Government wants to study Lunarians for their traits before exterminating them.

Current Conflicts

Pirates are outlaws that go against the Navy and World Government, while the Revolutionary Army aims to take down the World Government and it's corruption.

Magic & Religion

Devil Fruits - Devil Fruits are supernatural fruits that each grant a unique power when eaten, at the cost of removing the eater's ability to swim. Only one fruits power can be held at a time, and each person can only have one fruit at a time. The only way to remove a fruit's power is through death. Devil Fruits exist along three broad categories: Paramecia, the most common, which grant a vast array of "superhuman" abilities; Zoan, which grant the power to transform into animals; and Logia, the rarest and most powerful, which grant the power to transform into a natural element. Each fruit has a unique appearance, making identification and documentation possible. Haki - Haki is a mysterious power that allows individuals to harness their own spiritual energy for various superhuman feats. As this energy manifests from willpower, it is theoretically accessible to all living creatures in the world; the vast majority, however, are unable to use it, either because they are unaware of its existence or due to lack of adequate training to achieve mastery. There are three types of Haki, Observation : sensing others' spiritual energy to anticipate their movements, Armament: producing a protective coating of energy from one's own body and Conqueror's, which is the rarest types, only held by certain individuals around the world : overwhelming the willpower of others.

Historical Ages

800 years ago twas the age known as the Void Century, a period of time wiped from all of history by the highest authority of the World Government. Just before the Golden Age of Pirating, was the Rocks Era, a portion of time where the pirate Rocks D. Xebec and his pirate crew ruled the seas. Gol D. Roger and his crew was an other major player during this period before he became known as The Pirate King.

Economy & Trade

Almost every island has their own government type, but almost every "modern" island uses the currency known as Berries.

Law & Society

On a low level, Justice is up to the island on which the crime is committed. Some islands are friendly to all, pirates, navy and Revolutionary Army members, other may reject certain factions. On the higher levels, the World Government controls the majority of the world's power, so most islands will agree to work or become a part of the World Government for protection.

Monsters & Villains

The main opposition of the world for most are either Pirates, the Revolutionary Army or the Navy/World Government, depending on your alignment. Pirates will fight pirates, the Navy and Revolutionary Army (if necessary.) The Navy and World Government fights the Revolutionary Army and Pirates, while the Revolutionary Army fights against the World Government. The biggest threats belong to the Celestial Dragons, a group of people who "control" and are on the highest level of the World Government, only dwarfed by a the highest authorities of the World Government, known as The Holy Knights and The Five Gorosei, who are control by someone higher...
