In the endless black ash of The Abyss, a lone city at the base of a towering, sky‑shrouded mountain shelters desperate wanderers who are hunted by electrified predators, enslaved by telepathic Sentients, and forever watched by the inscrutable Unknown—an entity whose commands promise escape yet deliver only deeper darkness. Survival here is a brutal dance of bargaining with the Sentients, evading the Predators, and risking the corrupting, soul‑withering magic that can turn even the bravest into ash, all while the Unknown’s unseen judgment looms over every desperate attempt to break free.

World Overview

It's pure darkness. People sucked in the realm by wild magic, corrupted magic, or forgotten magic. There is no escape, just loneliness and death.

Geography & Nations

the world is covered in a desert of of black ash and shrouds of darkness making it impossible for one to find there bearings. The only notable feature is a tall giant mountain with it's peak disappearing into the grey and purple skies. A small city is itched into the base of the mountain, called Fellthrough.

Races & Cultures

Three races roam these lands. The Predators four legged beast that hunt for any living thing and shards of pulsating electricity on their bodies that help paralyze their prey only to hunt them again until they die of exhaustion. The Sentients, beings with higher intellect who stay below the mountain squids masks behind hoods, with only their tentacles showing that talk telepathically. They have some form of culture crafting nothing into something, but always with a price, and if you can't pay it's slavery or being thrown out to the desert to the Predators. The last is the Unknown, a fog of darkness with glimpses of man that stay atop the mountain. All that is known about them is orders come down to the Sentients, and they are obeyed. without hesitation. People go up, and they are never heard from again.

Current Conflicts

Surviving the desert is a triumph in itself. Not many people make it to the city of Fellthrough when they first arrive in the world. The Unknown controls all, corrupts all, and is the only way people believe to be the being that will let you escape this world. Freeing the slaves from the Sentients is always attempted, but rarely successive because people just want out of this existence, and the only way is through the Unknown.

Magic & Religion

The unknown has full influence on the whole world, corrupting most, toying with others through the Sentients, and tossing out the rest to the Predators. Magic can be used, but is limited. Using it slowly withers your body until you use to much and you succumb to being ash given to the world.

Planar Influences

People come from other planes, through mistakes in magic, but this world never interacts back.

Historical Ages

No one has lived long enough to see other era, nor is there scriptures of other times. It's always been as it is The Predators, the Sentients, the Unknown, and the tortured people that come. Talking to the Sentients might reveal people that have come these world and tried something, but failed. These people never accomplished anything of importance, just little trifling stories Sentients tell to pass time.

Economy & Trade

There is no currency but whatever you have when you come, and it's basic trade. If you really want something, then you can bargain with the Sentients, but at what price are you willing to go with?

Law & Society

This world is unruled. Justice is served when your either thrown out into the desert to be hunted, or killed because of your folly. Sentients govern most but don't care about petty squabbles of thief or crime unless you strike a deal with them. The Unkown is the one that's always watching and always judging moral actions.

Monsters & Villains

The Unknown is the evil being of this world who can only be stop by the light, but it's never been found. Some say it's deep out in the desert, or hidden deep under the mountain. The Predators out in the desert are another, they can be killed, but they hunt in packs. Killing one, just means dying to another. The Sentients are an evil cult connect, and can be easily killed, but mark you for death if you meet another.
