In the sky‑bound realm of The Barren Wastes, floating islands and cloud‑piercing peaks form a labyrinth of high‑magic horizons where skyships glide between kingdoms that are as unreachable as they are powerful. Here, isolated villages cling to moral codes amid lawlessness, while the seas below churn with hungry serpents and mind‑wracking beasts, making every journey a perilous dance between skyborne wonder and abyssal terror.

World Overview

The world is exceptionally high magic, the plane is covered in floating islands hovering over the ocean, held aloft by graviturgy crystals. The main means of transportation is skyships. People avoid the water as there are a plethora of magical sea beasts that are very hungry or love tormenting boats. Only the clinically insane would ever venture down to the waters.

Geography & Nations

Most places are small villages run by a mockup government that is functioning only because of towns people. But the kingdoms are like the center of the world that none can afford to get to. New Alexandria - New Alexandria is held together by a formal council appointed by the people. The council is also composed of civilians. Haven - Haven is a city governed by a king and queen. King Frederick and Queen Harley

Races & Cultures

Elves, Humans, Dwarves and Tieflings

Current Conflicts

The world is a complete mystery. We only know of our own city of New Alexandria, the rest is merely myth that we haven't heard of in decades. New pilgrims came around claiming to be from a city far to the north, they call the city "Haven". With their arrival begs the question of who might be out there.

Magic & Religion

The gods are called Archons and each one has a select purpose The Lawful Archons The Archmage - The Archon of all magic/the weave Nymphiss/The Beacon of Light - The Archon of hope and wisdom The Herald of Change/The Weaver of Fate - The Archon of free will. For those who embrace the inevitability of change, but not accepting that which is unsatisfactory Sovaryn/The Champion of the Underdog - The Archon of the defenders of the weak The Cradle of Life - The Archoness of life The Redeemer of Lost Souls/The Grand Judge - The Archon of law and order, giving those who have done wrong the chance to change through mercy Solern - The Archon of the sun known for protection and guidance Braxis The Tinkerer - The Archon of machined creation, artifice and scientific advancement Evil Archons Traveler/The Explorer of Worlds - The Archon of wonderlust, adventure and discovery of the old world (not evil but deals with a chaotic nature of adventurers so really more like chaotic good) Vorthikar, The Hollow King - The king of Undeath Betrayer Archons Malketh The Dark Magician - The creator of glorious perversions of dark magics that have ominous effects towards the users The Mistress of Whispers/Baroness of lies - A wicked manipulator known for meddling and bending the truth for the advantage of oneself Neutral Archons Juris/The blade of justice - The Archon of law and justice even unto death (hard to place this one) Nyxarion - The Archon of death (not the undead) the usher between life and death. (no formal church) Eryndria - The Archoness of the moon known for peace and tides The Oracle of Truth - The Archoness of a well spring of knowledge The Wandering Minstrel - The patron Archon of music and entertainment Auren/Merchant Prince - The Archon of trade and money (true neutral though people see him as the Archon of greed even though he's the Archon of good fortune) The Voice of Nature/The Tempest Queen - The Archoness of the cruel and natural world Lexivar, The Covenant Lord - The keeper of contracts

Planar Influences

During the solstice the elemental plane directly interacts with the prime material, the Fey can be traveled to through portals but only on full moons, the shadowfell, the hells and the abyss all require some sort of unnatural magic to be used All of the planes that interact with the prime material are - hell, the abyss (the home of demons), celestia, the plane of light, the plane of darkness, feywild, fire plane, air plane, water plane, earth plane, elemental chaos (combination of all of the elemental planes) purgatory and the shadowfell

Historical Ages

History is lost in most places, except for the kingdoms, no history expands farther than a hundred years prior to today

Economy & Trade

The kingdoms use coin but most towns only ever trade or barter goods that they have. Whatever seems to be a fair trade between the individuals

Law & Society

Most cities tend to be sort of lawless but hold to moral codes. If those moral codes are lost it turns to anarchy. The kingdoms have a clear law and justice system relying on guards and judges New Alexandria relies on the council to give law and Haven is ruled by the king and queen

Monsters & Villains

Most of the enemies you will encounter will be thugs in lawless zone, drakes or other flying creatures in the expanse between islands. And if you are brave enough you can find many great serpents and mind destroying creatures in the waters below
