In the Bleached Sands, the last magic and metal are being wrung from a dying desert where technomage city-states drain the world to dust. Between their walls, engineered monsters and desperate peoples fight for the final drops of water, power, and life itself.

World Overview

A desert world that has been corrupted by magic and technology. The environment has been drained by generations of magical and technological misuse. Plants, animals, the sentient species all compete for very limited resources, while competing with twisted machines and combinations of engineered biology and/or machines. Technomagical city-states each control their local region, squeezing what is left of the world around them. The waste between them belongs to scattered flora and fauna, all dangerous, from sand swimming desert dragons to deadly, magical flowers.

Geography & Nations

The city-states of this world include: Ur, built upon a waning ley line convergence, that they use to fuel weakening magic. Imin, mining the last veins of a deep mine to create the technology they use to project power on their surroundings. Ail, a city state that focuses on genetic and biological engineering to create new ways to keep life going.

Races & Cultures

The Urik of Ur, the best users of the waning magic of the world. The Imini of Imin, an industrious people who make the best they can with dwindling mineral resources. The Aile of Ail, who bend their own biology to better survive the harsh world around them.

Current Conflicts

The fragile trading triangle between the city-states of Ur, Imin, and Ail is continuously threatened by the machinations of various trading guilds that seek to gain advantage and the dwindling resources of the world.

Magic & Religion

The low magic of this world relies on manipulating the environment around you, often destroying and draining it in the process. Turning water to steam, fragmenting rocks in a spray of shrapnel, causing animals to turn mad, driving up winds to blow sand at an enemy.
