In the war‑torn Central Continent, humans forge their destiny by breaking personal limits under a mystical Geas, earning the honor of knighthood and the power to shatter stone, while the eastern realm cloaks its emperor’s Qi‑enhanced generals in disciplined secrecy, and the western frontier teems with horned demons who raid villages beyond the king’s iron‑clad borders. Amidst this clash of honor, magic, and prejudice, a lone hero—Crimson Hippo—shattered the legend of the Demon Knight, cementing a code that binds the most powerful warriors to their sworn vows and the fragile peace of a world where equations ignite the very air itself.

World Overview

The world of The Ember Knight is a world about surpassing limits and sticking to your honor. There is magic in the world but magic is based on equations and it is very rare to be able to use magic. the technology level is medieval level but thanks to magic some areas have advanced though only for the richest in the world or high branches of military. One important factor in the world is that to break past your limit and become stronger than a human is supposed to be a new limit of your choosing is placed on you called: a Geas, A geas is a personalized restriction of when or how you can use your strength and the Geas you choose can be very creative, some examples: can only fight against those that have spoken to you, or you can only attack that which you can see, or you can’t attack facing west, or you can only attack while touching the ground with your feet and other examples. breaking your geas can lead to either losing your strength and severe physical backlash or even death. in the eastern continent generals are the strongest warrior that protect their lands and most importantly the will of the emperor. the central continent has knights. to become a knight you have to break through your limit and give yourself a geas, then you have to meet the king to pledge loyalty to the king and to swear to uphold the honor of knights. when you do this you tell the king your geas and he swears to only reveal it if you betray him or your honor. then the king gives you your knightly title. every knight has a title which consists of a color and a animal, for example: pure white elephant, or yellow goose, or dirty blonde mountain cat. your knightly title is very personal and every knight has their own combination. knights try to never reveal their geas after making this pledge of loyalty since if anyone knows your geas it becomes a huge weakness. fully completed knights are insanely strong, they can move faster than a normal person can see, they are strong enough to shatter boulders and have three times the reflexes of a cat. to start the journey to being a knight you can join a knight school or you can try to break through your limits by yourself. knight schools often send a group of trainee-knights to do missions together to train. if you break through your limit but don’t go to the king to pledge your loyalty you will slowly be branded a rouge knight and be hunted down by honorable knights.

Geography & Nations

the World is divided into three continents, the central continent is the main focus, here a king rules the continent with the help of his powerful knights, the land is recently war torn but has diverse landscapes with mountains and snow to the north, plains and forests in the south and central parts, deserts in the east and rocky forest hills in the west. villages and small castles. nobles in the central continent war over what bit of land of power they can take from each other and they can employ knights if the knights honor allows it. the nobles do listen to the king in times of war with other continents. the central continent has a slim crossing over to the western continent which is a largely unknown area, the western continent is rocky and mountainous and hard to farm. it is populated by demons which look like humans but have darker skin and horns as well as a higher strength and the ability to self heal passively. the demons are organized into tribes and knights from the central continent police the border between the two continents heavily. there is a deep racism towards demons by almost all humans rooted in the fear of a demon attack. the eastern continent is cut off from the central continent and requires a week by boat to cross, the eastern continent is populated by humans as well but they are more traditionally centered than the central continent. the central continent is chaos with warring nobles while there is order in the eastern continent. A emperor rules the eastern continent and keeps everyone under control with the help of his Generals. Generals in the eastern continent don’t have a Geas and get stronger by utilizing Qi instead to reinforce their bodies and attacks. the eastern continent has a japanese-korean mixed culture built on traditions and respect compared to the medieval culture in the central continent. the eastern continent is also very secretive and does not allow visitors from other continents.

Races & Cultures

humans populate the central and eastern continent though the central continent has a medieval culture and the eastern continent has a japanese-korean mix in their culture. humans have a deep fear and hate for demons and dragons. only humans are able to use magic externally though only a few humans are able to use magic. Demons populate the western continent and have increased strength that increases with age as their horns grow as well as passive self healing due to the magic flowing in their blood there exists a handful of dragons spread out across the three continents. dragons look human but have a tail and dragon ears as well as wings. they have huge amounts of natural strength and can passively self heal. dragons don’t ally themself with anyone but they are somewhat respected and ignored in the eastern continent.

Current Conflicts

the central continents nobles constantly war for power under their kings lazy rule, the eastern continent is peaceful but kills any visitors who they find trespassing in their lands, the central continent has a passive war with the western continent and demons often cross the border to raid villages close to the border.

Magic & Religion

magic is a use of magic in the air using equations and writing, writing the equation pools mana into the writing so that non-magic users can use the scrolls to perform magic though this is reserved for knights. only humans born in the central continent can use magic. demons, dragons and eastern continent humans have magic in their blood instead. dragons and demons can use this for self healing while eastern continent humans use it as Qi for strengthening their bodies and attacks.

Planar Influences

only the material world exists, mana circulates the air but can only be felt by magicians

Historical Ages

the world is only three thousand years old, two thousand years ago magic was discovered, one thousand years ago the knight system was implemented. two hundred years ago a knight broke his code of honor and was branded the demon knight, every honorable knight in the continent rose up to defeat him and in the end, The ”Crimson Hippo” Hinsher defeated him and she was then hailed as the hero knight and the knights code of honor was solidified.

Law & Society

the western continent is lawless, the central continent has a council of knights that judge all trials, every knight is allowed to sit in and decide on a trial. knights are also tried in this council if the king or other knights feel that they have broken the law or their own honor. the eastern continent is strict and the emperor decides everything ##knights knights are the most powerful warriors in the central continent. knights are highly personalized and distinct from eachother. knights don’t have an uniform and instead choose whatever clothing and armor fits their personality, fighting style and needs. knights also have their own code of honor that might be similar to other knights but are also personal. Each knight has a distinct title given from the king when they pledge loyalty, the title consists of a color and a animal and when knights introduce themselves they announce their title proudly. knights that don’t pledge their loyalty to the king don’t recieve a title and are slowly branded a rouge knight and a threat. all knights even rouge knights have their personal geas as explained previously. a fight with a knight is fast paced and intelligent. knights either try to end the fight as quickly as possible or try to figure out the other knights geas to exploit their weakness. Knights also use different weapons depending on their fighting style. ##knights weapons When a knight has done something great, helped the king or has the right contacts they can receive a special weapon called a masterpiece. masterpieces are magical weapons created by a master smith. masterpieces can have a special attack or a magical function. Crimson Hippo Hinsher has a large warhammer that can extend long magical lasers in the shape of a sword with a crossguard. Masterpieces are often made to order and knights describe what they need to the master smith and receive a weapon that matches their style. ##Narin Along with masterpieces, knights can find super rare ancient weapons called Narin. Narin are as old as the world and have more basic magical functions and less flashy special attacks. Narin are still much stronger in their attacks and Narin can never be broken by anything. To use a Narin you have to be chosen by the weapon so a Narin can’t be stolen and used by others as well. If you try to use a Narin while not chosen the weapon will not swing and the magical function will not activate
