High Fantasy, High magic setting. There are scattered kingdoms with various rulers that have tentative alliances, with one high ruler who's control over all the kingdoms has been wavering, starting with the more feral outlying territories. Technology is medieval, and there is no active major warfare but there have been skirmishes between outlying groups. There are powerful monsters and dragons that inhabit this world.
