Across the Shattered Sands, three continents drift on golden dust-seas and only those who conquer dungeons may wield the godlike magic of Djinns, while empires, traders and nomads race to claim a newly risen labyrinth whose Djinn embodies Destiny itself. An Emperorvessel can be born only if every rival Kingvessel bows or dies, the world must decide whether fate is preordained—or if mortals can carve their own path before the Celestial Spire falls and all futures collapse into one empire’s dominion.

World Overview

Magic Level: Only usable by Kingvessels – Only people who conquered dungeons can use magic based on their contracted Djinns. Warrior Culture: People of this world are just like normal humans. They fight and learn technics, tactics during their lives. However Martial Arts based on the techniques of the first Kingvessel has been trending lately which allows normal humans to fight on superhuman level. Technology: Roughly late medieval, however based on the Metal Vessels of Djinns alchemist created Household Vessels that can be used by normal people, like floating lanterns, cooling jars for food, self-refilling water basins. Theme: • Fate vs. Free Will: Is destiny preordained, or can mortals carve their own path? • Power and Corruption: Djinn power grants godlike strength, but risks consuming the wielder. • Unity vs. Division: Will the continents be united under a single king candidate, or torn apart by endless dungeon wars?

Geography & Nations

The Shattered Sands • The world is divided into Three Great Continents separated by vast seas of shifting sandstorms rather than oceans. These sand-seas behave like water, but are composed of enchanted golden dust. o The Empire of Altharion (Eastern Continent):  Militaristic, expansionist empire built on conquest.  Known for Djinn cavalry and massive war golems powered by a few Kingvessels  Ruler is rumored to be hosting multiple Djinn vessels. o The Free Cities of Zarephesh (Western Continent):  Trading hubs along the Dust-Sea routes.  Governed by merchant councils, with wealth often rivaling kings.  Known for alchemy and hosting an academy for future Dungeon Explorers. o The Shifting Tribes of Dahrim (Central Continent):  Nomadic people who travel the golden deserts with colossal sandships.  Masters of beast-taming, especially giant serpents and sand-whales.  They believe in harmonizing with nature, avoiding Djinn. • Above all hangs the Celestial Spire, a crystalline pillar in the sky where fate itself is said to be woven. Those who can climb it are believed to gain dominion over destiny.

Races & Cultures

Humans: Most numerous race, found on all three continents. Highly adaptable. Known for ambition: they build empires, trade networks, and armies. Humans are the only race naturally capable of hosting Djinn Metal Vessels, which makes them the rulers of destiny. Dahrim Tribesfolk (Desertborn Humans): A branch of humanity uniquely attuned to the golden Dust-Seas. Their skin glimmers faintly under moonlight. They cannot host Djinn, but they are unmatched beast-tamers. Feared for their ability to predict sandstorms and sense dungeon awakenings. Djinns: Beings of pure elemental and conceptual essence, born from the first collapse of the Celestial Spire. Each Djinn embodies a domain (Flame, Storm, Chains, Truth, Dreams, etc.). They do not reproduce, but exist eternally within dungeons until conquered. Hybrids: Rare humans who born during the collapse of a dungeon . Appear mostly human, but carry elemental traits. They are prized as mystics or feared as cursed. There has been no precedent of a Hybrid Kingvessel yet. Beastfolk of the Dust-Sea: Intelligent humanoid races evolved from the massive creatures of the desert. Viewed as second-class citizens in human kingdoms, but hold power in frontier regions. For Example: • Serpentine Nomads: Tall, thin, with scaled patterns; often merchants or assassins. • Sandjackals: Fierce hunters with keen senses; work as mercenaries. • Drakekin: Rare winged humanoids said to descend from ancient dragons; often enslaved by empires. The Forgotten: Beings born inside labyrinths, neither human nor Djinn. Appear alien—crystalline skin, shifting voices, eyes like stars. They live only as long as the labyrinth stands. When it collapses, they vanish. Some have escaped into the wider world, unknown what had happened to them.

Current Conflicts

• A new dungeon has risen in the middle of the Dust-Sea, bigger than any seen before. Its Djinn is said to embody “The End of All Paths”—a Djinn of Destiny itself. Every faction is racing to claim it, and the balance of the world is about to shift. • The Empire of Altharion decided to conquer the Central and Western Continent as well. • The Emperorvessel can only born when all existing Kingvessel bow or die.

Magic & Religion

Magic can only be used based on the concept of the Djinn contracted. Known Djinns and their Magic: 1. Zahra – Djinn of Storms  Lighting magic 2. Orun – Djinn of Breezes  Wind magic 3. Nashara – Djinn of Chains  Binding magic 4. Tharos – Djinn of Flames  Fire magic 5. Drevan – Djinn of Mountains  Ground magic 6. Ilyra – Djinn of Rapids  Water magic 7. Kaelis – Djinn of Death  Black magic 8. Selqet – Djinn of Serendipity  Healing magic 9. Veyrun – Djinn of Poison  Poison magic 10. Azurel – Djinn of Forests  Wood magic People do not believe in higher beings due to the world’s structure, however they revere the strong. If an Emperorvessel borns all human and other race would bow their head towards them.

Planar Influences

The world of dungeons and The Shattered Sands can only intersect when dungeons emerge or collapse.

Economy & Trade

Standard D&D coinage (Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum). Trade Routes: administered by the The Free Cities of Zarephesh.

Monsters & Villains

Monsters: • Sand Leviathan: A titanic serpent that swims through the Dust-Seas, its back mistaken for dunes. Swallows whole sandships, stirs up dust-storms with its thrashing. Sensitive eyes hidden beneath armored scales. • Mirage Jackals: Hyena-like predators that can bend light, appearing in multiple places at once. Confuse travelers with phantom packs, then strike from blind spots. • Obsidian Scarabs: Black beetles the size of shields, with diamond-hard shells. Swarm in thousands, stripping flesh and steel alike. Explode into shards when slain. • Crystal Basilisk: A lizard-beast whose scales refract light into blinding beams. Petrifies prey with its gaze; labyrinth guardians often breed them. Their crystal fangs fetch fortunes in the Free Cities. Villains: • The Fateweavers: their goal is to Preserve the “flow of destiny” by controlling who rises as King Candidates, ensuring no true free will ever threatens the flow. They are manipulating prophecies, rigging dungeon conquests, assassinations, illusions of divine will. • The Beastfolk Rebellion: Their Goal is to end human dominance by destroying Dust-Sea trade and reclaiming land for beastfolk. • The Empire of Altharion: their goal is to Unite the three continents under one banner, destroy the Celestial Spire, and seize control of fate itself. • Cult of the Soul-Forges: Replace flesh and with Household and Metal Vessels creating a “perfect” immortal race.
