Beneath the poisoned ruins of Nabudis, the Lost city of Zanarkand or inside every unearthed Crystal, immortal nightmares and forgotten gods watch the cold war tick toward detonation.

High level of magic: magic can be cast using crystals but theses stones are very rare and valuable. Medium level of technology: steampunk like machines can be powered by crystals but it is very rare. The world of Valeforia is a pangea world. Magic stones called Crystals are used to casts spells, invoke eons and power machines. A world war for is upon the continent, the Empire of Arcadia and the Empire of Rozarria are on the edge of battling for the monopole of the Crystals. In the Void, all-powerful beings, Augures pulls the strings of kings and others forces for domination.

Geography & Nations

The world is a pangea world with a single continent and a large ocean. In the middle of the continent, there is a huge desert: The desert of Zertina. Several kingdoms are present: - the Lost Kingdom of Zanarkand: ancient kingdom in the east of the continent. Destroyed 1000 years ago by a burst of magic, now it is inhabited. Adventurers go in theses land to find powerful and ancient artifacts and Crystals. - The Necropole of Nabudis: ancient city in the middle of the continent. Destroyed 1000 years ago by the gigantic creature Sin. The place is now poisoned, now inhabited. Undead and rotting creatures are roaming. Nobody wants to go there. The place hold a secret: in the center of the Necropole lies Lucia, an immortal young lady that is asleep for 1000 years. She is was a princess of Nabil 100 years ago. Her body was fused with a powerful crystal and now she is half human, half machine that prevent her to age. - the Holy City of Bevelle: in the north of the continent, the holy city of the White Truth religion is allied with the Empire of Arcadia. The city is build inside a gigantic white Crystal. They gained power thank to the Crystals they are mining and selling but the mines are starting to tarish. - the Empire of Arcadia: huge empire in the east of the continent. Totalitarian empire, roman like empire. Capital is Arcadia. Emperor is Azelas the 5th. Has the most powerful army in the continent. Is a threat to other kingdoms. - the Empire of Rozarria: in the west, near the forest of Salida. Greek like empire. Focus on trade, diplomacy and alliances. 2nd greastest empire of the continent and growing. It was at war with Arcadia for decades. They are now in a cold war. The kingdom of Valendia is their vassal. - the city state of Bhujerba: in the middle of the ocean, in the Floating Islands. The 3rd power of the continent. Has the biggest mines of Crystals. Ruled by King Andore the 1st. He is neutral in the war between the 2 empires but prefer selling the Crystals to Rozarria. - the city state of Rabanastre: in the north of the Zertina desert. Sacked 8 years ago by raiders of the desert. Today, the city is a puppet state of the Empire of Arcadia. A secret lies underneath the city: the Void Crystal, the most powerful Crystal is hiding for centuries. - the kingdom of Valendia: vassal of the Empire of Rozarria. In the west, mostly a coastline and islands. - the Sacred Mountains: in the far south of the continent, a sauvage territory near a jungle. Mountains inhabited by the Maka tribe. They don’t use Crystals, it is forbidden for them, they think this is godly power. They are descendants of the Nabudis empire destroyed 1000 years ago. The highest mountain is Mount Gagazet, at the top, there is a huge Crystal inside a cave. - the Divine Kingdom of Kuri: Far west of the continent, an archipelago with medieval Japanese kingom with samourais. Isolationist, they protect their land and Queen Goddess Akira. Queen Akira is immortal because she fused her body with a powerful Crystal using an ancient magic found in Nabudis by explorers. But she is slowly loosing her mind. - The Void: other dimension where lies Eons and Augures. - The Great Ocean: A huge ocean with many islands - The Endless Tempest: a huge tempest in the middle of the Great Ocean. Nobody wants to go. In the middle of the hurricane, is hidden Gilvegane, the gigantic crystal used in the war by Zanarkand 1000 years ago.

There are 3 races : - Augures : god like creature. Mostly lives in the Void, an other dimension. But sometimes, they go in Valeforia to decept humans. They are the creatures that created the Crystals and the Eons. - Eons : Powerful beings that can be summoned from the Void to Valeforia. They are extremely rare. Humans can summon them by fusionning with crystals but it is very dangerous, most of the time mortal. - Humans : Mortal beings that colonized the world. There are several cultures : - Aracadian culture : prussian like culture that respect brute force and intelligence, the law of the strongest, hierarchy. Followed by Bevelle and Arcadia - Rozarrian culture : greek like culture that respect music, dance, poetry, diplomacy, nature. Followed by Rozarria and Valendia - Raban culture : arabic like culture that respect economy, diplomacy. Followed by Rabanastre and Bhujerba. - Maka culture : Tibetan like culture that consider Crystal as gods. The use of Crystals are forbidden. Followed by the Maka tribe. - Kuri culture : Japan like culture that respect strengh and hierarchy. Followed by the Divine Kingdom of Kuri. - Pirate culture : Pirates respect strengh and a code of honor.

Current Conflicts

The main political tensions are between the Empire of Arcadia and the Empire of Rozarria. After years of cold war and stability, the recent fall of Rabanastre could lead to a new world war. Moreover, The Rebellion in Rabanastre is growing stronger. It is led by nobles and former royal guards in the sewers in the shadows. Their main goal is to find the princess Saraleska who was sold as a slave 8 years ago by Tarkos’ men. She is probably in a small village in the Zertina Desert.

Magic & Religion

To use magic, you need to use Crystals that can be mined all around the continent. In general, purest is the Crystal, more powerful is the magic. Crystals are rare. Crystals can be inserted in object to give them magical power. For example, a staff with a Crystal can control water or fire. A Crystal can power machines and vehicules. Using a Crystal to much can be dangerous because it can heat and explode. There is a religion link to Crystals: the White Truth. For this religion, using a Crystal is an act of faith. The Maka tribe in the far south doesn’t use Crystals. It is forbidden to them. They are descendants of the Nabudis empire destroyed 1000 years ago. Augures are all powerful beings manipulating Crystals, Eons, humans and kingdoms. There are for example: - Ultima: augure of light. It is fused with the empress Akira in the Divine Kingdom of Kuri - Lilith: augure of deception and seduction. It is deep inseide the city of Bevelle and control the White Truth religion in secret. - Anima: augure of life and death. It is dormant in Zanarkand. - Adramelech: augure of rage and anger. It is in a cave in the Zertina desert. - Zeromus: augure of darkness. It is deep beneath Rabanastre and is guarding the Void Crystal - Cuchulainn: augure of rot and illness. Inside the necropole of Nabudis. - Chaos: augure of war and destruction. It is prisoner of the arcadian army. - Bahamut: augure of intelligence and control. It is inside the gigantic Crystal Gilvegane. - Shemhazai: augure of truth and wisdom. It is at the top of the Sacred Mountains. God of the Maka tribe. - Odexia: augure of nature. It is deep inside the Salida jungle.

Historical Ages

- 4000 years ago, Age of Stones: magic stones called Crystals were found in mines and humans learned to harvest their power. Kingdoms rised and fall for centuries but 2 managed to grow bigger: the kingdom of Zanarkand and the Empire of Nabudis. - 1000 years ago, The Great War: the kingdom of Zanarkand and the Empire of Nabudis fought a war for domination. Zanarkand used Crystals to create magic and invoke powerfull beings. Nabudis used the Crystals to power machines to fight the war. It was also an ideologic war: magic vs machines. The war ended with the loss of both capitals: Zanarkand and Nabudis. Zanakand used the power of the gigantic Crystal called Gilvegane to invoke a massive monster called Sin. Doing so, there was a gigantic burst of magic destroying the kingdom of Zanarkand. The creature Sin, half alive, rotting, moved to Nabudis and crashed onto the city, destroying it and poisoning the ground for centuries. The used of Crystals was then banished for 500 years. - 500 years ago, Age of Truth: in Bevelle, one of the largest Crystal was found. A religion was created, the White Truth and the Holy City of Bevelle was build inside the Crystal. Bevelle had the monopole on the Crystals. - 400 years ago, Age of Discovery: the Arcadian Empire was created and followed the White Truth religion. In the same time, explorers all around the world found gigantic Crystals resulting in the creation of several other kingdoms. In the forest of Salida, the Empire of Rozarria. In the Floating Islands, the city state of Bhujerba. Near the desert of Zertina, the city state of Rabanastre. At the coast of Sohen, the kingdom of Valendia. At the top of Sacred Mount Gagazet, the tribe of Maka. Somewhere in the south archipelago, the Divine Kingdom of Kuri. Slowly, Bevelle was loosing monopole on the Crystals and the White Truth was loosing followers. - 100 years ago, Age of War: The Arcadian Empire declared war against the Empire of Rozarria. Between the 2 large empires, the kingdom of Valendia sided with the Empire of Rozarria and the city state of Rabanastre stayed neutral. After several battles, peace was signed but there was still a cold war between the 2 empires. Rozarria gained power through diplomacy and alliance. Arcadia gained power by invaded the free territories of the south of their empire. - 8 years ago, an army of raiders from the desert led by the warlord Tarkos attacked the city state of Rabanastre. Killing the king Altaïr the 3rd. The princess Saraleska was captured and sold as a slave. Even though there is no proof, rumors said the aracdian general Auron Von Jecht was charged by the emperor Alezander to pay Tarkos and ask him to sack Rabanastre. General Auron then left arcadian army because of the horror he saw during the raid. The Empire of Arcadia then, claimed the ravaged city of Rabanastre and is now ready to declare war again to the Empire of Rozarria.

Trades can be done with gold or Crystals. But Crystals are very valuable. The more powerful is the Crystal, the more expensive it is.

Valeforia is a world of opportunities, adventurers roam the entire world seeking gold and glory. There are severals type of adventurers: - Crystal benders: power mages that use crystal crafted artifacts - Huntsmen: Hunters hired to chase and kill creatures and beasts all around the world - Bountymen: Bounty hunters that are hired to retrieve, emprison or kill humans - Mercenaries: Soldier freelance hired by a military force - Pirates: Roaming the Great Ocean - Eon masters: Very rare type of mage that use crystals to envoke eons

Eons are most of the time feared by people. The Great Plague, Sin, even if the creature is "dead" for 1000 years ago, it is still feared and poison the Necropole of Nabudis. Augures are all powerful beings manipulating Crystals, Eons, humans.
