Amidst ancient ruins, dragon migrations, and a looming empire led by a devil’s avatar, heroes must navigate political intrigue, racial tensions, and the perilous promise of divine or infernal power to decide the fate of a world where every spell could be a blessing or a curse.

World Overview

20% of people are born with the ability to utilise magic. The elements of magic are nature, Fire, Water, lightning, and the rarer light, dark, poison, and curse magic types. People are usually only born with one element but occasionally have two. There is spirit magic where some have the ability to communicate and work with spirits. Late Medieval levels of technology. Objects and weapons can be imbued with magic and mana. Mythical and regular beasts live throughout the lands. There are an infinite number of races throughout the lands. There are an infinite number of gods as well as their angel companions. People may devote themselves to gods in order to grow closer to their passions and gain power. There are also devils, demons, and fallen angels that people may devote themselves too, however power gained from these sources are dangerous and can curse the user. The gods can do everything to communicate with the mortals but cannot come down to planet and so may choose avatars and challengers to do their bidding. Creatures can be tamed, corrupted by magic, become familiars, or sometimes godly avatars.

Geography & Nations

A Continent known as Malnaron. There are 5 territories as well as an island. In the centre of the continent is a large lake protruding through 4 territories called Lake Riyeka, a hub for trade and the movement of goods and people. In the South West is the largest territory known as Kingdom Avalon, a royal kingdom with the royal capital called Calnoron in the centre. on the south west coast of this territory is a relatively large cove named "Mulstone Cove". protruding south west from the lake is a river that narrowly travels past the north side of Calnoron and continues until it reaches the west coast. North of this river, but still within the territory of Kingdom Avalon is a forest that covers one third of the kingdom's territory, called the shadow grove forest, which continues over the border into the territory which is the north west quatre of the continent called the resistance. This border between the Kingdom Avalon and the resistance has old and ancient ruins scattered across it, old fortresses and dungeons and such from before the two territories were allied. Just north east of the end of this forest that covers about one sixth of the southern region of the resistance, is the capital, now called Paligenesia. The east border of the resistance is covered by a mountain range that begins in a large mountainous region in the north of the resistance called Howler peaks. the mountain range crosses the eastern border into the unowned north eastern quatre of the continent consisting of the north north east smaller territory known as Dragnerth where it is believed the nest of the dragons resides, and the more eastern central territory called Ingthor where goblin and orc tribes settle, and a range of territorial mythical beasts reside. A river protruding north north east of the lake travels to the northern quatre of Ingthor before splitting into two more rivers; one that travels north west into the resistance, between paligenesia and the howler peaks until reaching the north west coast, and another river that travels further north east into dragnerth before reaching the north coast. The south east quatre of the continent is the territory known as the Empire. The capital city of the empire sits in the north east quatre of the empire, away from the border with the kingdom Avalon. A river travels from the lake south east into the centre of the empire before splitting into two rivers; one that reaches the east coast and one that travels west into the territory of Kingdom Avalon before bending south and reaching the south coast, with this series of rivers basically splitting the empire into thirds. There is an island to the north west of the continent called Outcast Island. On Outcast Island there is a prison called Urthreight, that is shared between the allied territories of Kingdom Avalon and the resistance.

Races & Cultures

Across the continent there are countless races, with some being rarer and more sparce than others. In the empire, Races such as humans, Dwarves, and Orcs rule the land and persecute less humanistic races such as beast-folk, fairies and Satyrs; as well as capturing and exploiting creatures for their gain. Kingdom Avalon houses all races without persecution, however there is some social divide between races such as humans, elves, and other holy races looking down upon races like lizard-folk, goblins, and dwarves. The northern half of Kingdom Avalon embraces and accepts beast-folk whilst the southern half shuns them. In the Resistance, all races are accepted and differences are celebrated, however, there is occasionally some infighting between races that have bad history together such as between Orcs and elves, as well as Humans and Githyanki. The Empire is ruled secretly by a Devil name Ulndear, who has chosen his avatar, a half Orc half Human called Yildirus who dictates the Empire with a small committee of his closest followers. Kingdom Avalon is ruled by a historical human royal family with a long lineage of strong magic users and a particular closeness with the sun god. The Leader of the Elves "Ingrid" lives within the forest in a holy village with a large pack of others, however Elves are allowed to roam freely through the kingdom and so may not only be found in that forest. Some elves now live in the resistance after travelling there to support the efforts to overthrow the previous corrupt government. The Resistance is now ruled by a half human half Tiefling named Plyraus who is supported by his many followers after he led the coup against the former corrupt government. Races such as Lizard-folk and Hobgoblins tend to be hired as mercenaries as they do not have any particular history or home within any territory. Dragon-folk and dragons tend to live within the territory of Dragnerth where the nest of dragons resides. Wyvern and other scaled races may also be found here. In the unconquered territory of Ingthor, Rogue Orcs and less intelligent goblins settle here and attempt to build civilization, although this usually fails due to the pressure they face from migrating dangers from Dragnerth, the military patrols from the empire, and races that prefer to live within nature such as Boggarts, Kobolds, and Goliaths.

Current Conflicts

The Empire is attempting to seize control of the continent as Ulndear wishes to release his Devils, but has not yet made any moves. Dragons begin to migrate into Ingthor meaning the rogue goblins and orcs of ingthor are attempting to traverse the mountains into the resistance. The Empire has previously attempted to infiltrate the prison on outcast island. The social divide between the races in the south of kingdom Avalon is growing worse. The Empire attempts to gain control over the lake arguing that it is for their safety although it is known they are using it to help them infiltrate the other territories in the future. People in the west of Kingdom Avalon believe the kingdom should move for a more democratic governing system, however those in the north of Kingdom Avalon believe this is a bad idea due to the recent corrupt government of what is now the resistance. The Goblins are angry after being pushed out of their settlements in Ingthor after growing Empire presence attempting to move north and capture dragon-kind; therefore the more intelligent goblins have migrated to Kingdom Avalon and The Resistance. Kingdom Avalon and The Empire both have active spies in either country.

Magic & Religion

Magic users are born with a certain level of mana within them, however through training they can improve the potency, vividness, and power of their magic, however their level of mana is set and can only be amplified through a conduit such as a staff or through true devotion to a god, devil, or spirit of their magical element. The power of ones magic is dependent on their ability to channel and manipulate their mana. There is a cult called Hlethrak that worships Cthulhu and Chimera that situates in a village on the south coast across the border between Kingdom Avalon and The Empire. There is a faith known a Hulthnar, where followers devote themselves to the more powerful gods, particularly those relating to their craft or race; they have a holiday in the spring called Ornious where believers gather in the royal capital of Avalon where a large festival is held to celebrate the gods and their kindness. There is a religion that worships devils known as Eqrnxth, where disciples of Eqrnxth (Named after the late devil king) worship devils; followers of this religion usually feel betrayed by the gods or as though life is against them, and is largely followed in the Empire. The religion Eqrnxth has a holiday in winter called Tjlarak where the sealed gate of Tjlra opens from the underworld for a short time and followers give offerings in hopes that they are protected on "Deliverance day"; a day disciples of Eqrnxth believe will come when the devils gain enough power to unseal the gate of Tjlra.
