MISSION STATEMENT Operating clandestine and worldwide, the Foundation acts beyond conventional jurisdiction, with the task of containing anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena. We maintain an extensive database of information regarding anomalies requiring Special Containment Procedures, commonly referred to as "SCPs"; all of which undermine the natural laws that the people of the world implicitly trust in. We operate to maintain normalcy, so that the worldwide civilian population can live and go on with their daily lives without fear, mistrust, or doubt in their personal beliefs, and to maintain human independence from extraterrestrial, extradimensional, and other extranormal influence. Our mission is threefold: Secure — secure anomalies to prevent them from falling into the hands of civilian or rival agencies through extensive observation and surveillance, acting to intercept anomalies at the earliest opportunity. Contain — contain anomalies to prevent spread of their influence or effects; by either relocating, concealing, or dismantling them, or by suppressing public dissemination of knowledge thereof. Protect — protects humanity as well as the anomalies themselves until such time that they are either fully understood or new theories of science can be devised based on their properties and behavior. The Foundation maintains and operates a large number of facilities worldwide, from small outposts with only a handful of staff to large complexes with thousands of personnel. The following document contains a list of major Foundation facilities, but is not intended to be fully comprehensive. These facilities are divided into Sites, locations known to the public but with their true purpose disguised behind government or corporate fronts, and Areas, which are completely unknown to the public, generally due to their remote locations. Human - the one who try to control, contain, secure the anomaly of earth, protecting the whole world from Demons, Ghosts, Aliens, Monsters, Myths, Legends. In the SCP Foundation multiverse, "races" and "cultures" encompass a vast array of sapient non-human species, ancient civilizations that have rewritten history, and extra-dimensional societies. They once ruled the Earth but were nearly wiped out or exiled to the extradimensional Nexus of Avalon (Annwn). The Children of the Night (Homo sapiens nocturnus): Also known as SCP-1000 or "Bigfoot." They were the dominant technological civilization before humans, possessing advanced biological tech before being overthrown and magically forced into a feral state. The Daevas: A divergent humanoid subspecies from the ancient Daevite Empire. They possessed preternatural longevity and a culture built on blood magic and ritual conquest. Subterranean and Extraterrestrial Races: The Hoiohiña: A civilization of large, intelligent rodents (Rattus abissos) living 40km beneath South America that practices biothaumaturgy. The Theians: An alien species that established commercial space travel and bases throughout the solar system as of 2018. The Taronyu: A humanoid alien race from the planet SCP-4547, now extinct due to a "Broken Foundation" scenario. Prominent Anomalous Cultures Sarkic Cults (Nälkä): A biological-based culture descendant from an ancient empire. Their society is built around carnomancy (flesh-magic), physical augmentation, and ritual cannibalism to achieve divinity. The Church of the Broken God (Mekhanites): A mechanical culture that venerates logic and inorganic order. They replace their bodies with anomalous clockwork or cybernetics. The Daevite Empire: A "retroactive" civilization whose history expands whenever its primary artifact, SCP-140, is written in. Anomalous Social Structures The Foundation also monitors smaller, highly specialized anomalous societies: SCP-3288 (The Aristocrats): An underground society of devolved, man-eating Habsburg nobility. Major Ideological Conflicts Political tension typically arises from the differing goals of the world's most powerful anomalous organizations, known as Groups of Interest (GoIs): ----------- Allies ------------ The Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU): Who they are: A division of the FBI dedicated to investigating paranormal crimes in the USA. The Alliance: They are often called the "Foundation's little brother." They are drastically underfunded and often mocked, but they are loyal. The Foundation uses them to handle low-level investigations and cover-ups within the US government. Why they are allies: The UIU knows they can't handle the big monsters, so they happily hand over dangerous cases to the Foundation. The True Allies (Contractors & Subordinates) These groups work directly with the Foundation, often under treaties or funding agreements. Wilson's Wildlife Solutions (WWS): Who they are: A wholesome, publicly funded wildlife rehabilitation service based in Boring, Oregon. The Alliance: They are the Foundation's closest and friendliest ally. Under the "Boring Agreement," the Foundation funds them, and in exchange, WWS handles safe and biological anomalies (critters and animals) that aren't too dangerous. Why they are allies: The Foundation is too busy for "magical turtles," so they pay Tim Wilson and his team to take care of them nicely. The Global Occult Coalition (GOC): Who they are: The "Police" of the paranormal world, backed by the United Nations. The Conflict: The GOC wants to destroy monsters; the Foundation wants to contain them. This leads to frequent arguments and even combat. The Alliance: Despite their rivalry, they are the two most powerful organizations protecting humanity. The Direct Enemies (War & Weaponization) : These groups actively attack the Foundation to steal anomalies, kill personnel, or destroy the organization. The Church of the Broken God: Who they are: Worshipers of Mekhane, a machine god who "broke" himself to save humanity. They replace their body parts with machinery. Conflict: They constantly try to assemble pieces of their god (many of which are SCPs). If they succeed, they might accidentally cause an apocalypse (like a giant metal kaiju). Nickname for Foundation: "The Heretics." Geopolitical Ties and Sovereignty Global Shadow Government: The Foundation is generally portrayed as a non-governmental entity that operates beyond national laws, often commanding the cooperation of world leaders through fear or mutual benefit. National Rivals: Some governments maintain their own anomalous agencies to exert national power, such as the GRU Division "P" (Russia) or the Office For the Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts (ORIA). This leads to clandestine "cold wars" between national interests and the Foundation's global agenda. Sarkic Cults (Nälkä): Who they are: Ancient flesh-worshipping cults that practice ritual cannibalism and body modification. They worship Yaldabaoth (a god of flesh and instinct). The Foundation approaches them through Thaumatology (the science of magic) and Tactical Theology (the containment of divine entities). How Magic Works: Thaumaturgy Magic is referred to as Thaumaturgy—the artificial manipulation of reality through the use of energy. Scientific Basis: Modern Foundation lore (specifically in 2025-era canons like SCP-8235) views magic as a byproduct of Elan-Vital Energy (EVE) and string theory. The Two Laws: Most thaumaturgy follows two principles: Law of Contagion: A part of something (like a lock of hair) continues to affect the whole. Law of Sympathy: "Like produces like"—a symbolic representation of a target can influence the target itself. Type Blues: This is the Foundation/GOC classification for individuals capable of using thaumaturgy. Unlike "Type Green" reality benders who intuitively warp reality, Type Blues must use rituals, glyphs, or "spiritspeak" to achieve their goals. How Religion Works: Tactical Theology In this universe, "Gods" are typically Pluripotent Entities—extremely powerful beings that rely on human belief to manifest in reality. Akiva Radiation: This is the measurable unit of "divine grace" or faith. High levels of Akiva radiation (over 450 cAk) are lethal to humans, often resulting in "miraculous" or horrific physical transformations like turning into salt. The Foundation's Department of Tactical Theology uses Akiva counters to track the influence of gods and pick religious agents to combat unholy threats. Hume Levels: While Akiva measures faith, Humes measure the "thickness" of reality. A god with high Humes can impose its personal reality onto the world around it. Major Religious Groups (GoIs) Several powerful religious organizations actively use magic and divine influence: The Church of the Broken God: Worships MEKHANE, a god of machines and logic. They use Technothaumaturgy to replace their flesh with anomalous mechanical parts. Sarkic Cults (Nälkä): The biological rivals to the Broken God. They practice Carnomancy (flesh-magic), using ritual cannibalism and body modification to achieve a "divine" state of biological perfection. The Horizon Initiative: A coalition of Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) that uses holy relics to maintain divine order and combat "heathen" anomalies.

In the SCP Foundation universe, planar influences refer to the ways in which higher dimensions, alternate realities, and metaphysical planes disrupt the Foundation’s mission of maintaining normalcy. These influences fundamentally alter the Foundation's structure and operations. 1. Multiversal and Dimensional Breaches Extra-Dimensional SCPs: Hundreds of anomalies originate from or provide access to other planes, such as SCP-507 (a human who involuntarily shifts through dimensions) and SCP-2922 (Corbenic, an anomalous afterlife dimension). Reality Failure: Planar leaks can cause catastrophic spatial and temporal distortions. For instance, SCP-3812 constantly transcends narrative planes, causing violent outbursts that shift and damage local space-time. The Wanderer's Library: A primary planar hub for the Serpent's Hand, this extra-dimensional library allows GoIs to bypass Foundation containment by traveling through a "Way" to other realities. 2. Department of Pataphysics: This specialized branch is capable of hacking or affecting the SCP Website from within the lore to prevent higher-plane entities from rewriting their reality. 3. Operational and Political Adaptations Reality Anchors: To stabilize local reality against planar influence or reality benders, the Foundation utilizes Scranton Reality Anchors (SRAs), which negate supernatural effects by stabilizing the fabric of space-time. Nexus Sites and Free Ports: Some planar influences are so geographically concentrated that the Foundation cannot contain them. These areas, known as Nexuses, are allowed to remain under supervision, while Free Ports (like Three Portlands) are anomalous enclaves where containment is deemed unnecessary as long as they remain hidden from the public. Planar Diplomacy: In some 2025-era canons, the Foundation has moved from strict containment to "Planar Diplomacy," negotiating with entities from the 5th dimension or other realms when traditional force is ineffective.

Before the modern "SCP Foundation," various national "Precursor Organizations" handled anomalies: American Secure Containment Initiative (ASCI): Operates in the 19th-century United States. Her Majesty's Foundation for the Secure Containment of the Paranormal (HMFSCP): The British Empire’s occult agency. The Tsars' Seers: The Russian Empire's paranormal wing. Founding (Late 1800s): Many popular canons state the modern Foundation was formed in the late 19th century (often circa 1870–1900) by merging these national agencies. The Modern Era (20th Century – Present) World War II & the Seventh Occult War: A pivotal age where the Foundation and the Allied Occult Initiative fought against the Thule Society and other Axis occultists. This war led to the creation of the Global Occult Coalition (GOC). The Cold War (1940s–1980s): Characterized by the Chaos Insurgency splintering from the Foundation (1948) and the re-emergence of Sarkic threats in Europe. The Information Age (2000s–Present): The current setting, where the Foundation struggles to maintain "normalcy" in an age of digital leaks and global connectivity.

In the SCP Foundation universe, the economy is split between a massive global "Front" system and a clandestine "Anomalous Market." The Foundation operates as a multi-trillion-dollar entity that manipulates the baseline world economy while participating in high-stakes trades with other powerful Groups of Interest (GoIs). 1. Baseline Global Economy (The Front) The Foundation funds its containment sites and global operations through a vast network of legitimate business entities. Front Companies: The Foundation operates hundreds of "Fronts" across diverse industries, from aerospace to consumer goods. Notable examples include Spicy Crust Pizzeria, a global brand that provides covert funding and communications while offering discounts to off-duty Foundation staff. Major Investments: According to lore (e.g., SCP-4677), the Foundation holds significant stakes in the world's largest corporations, such as a 20% stake in the Coca-Cola Company, worth roughly $40 billion. Market Manipulation: Specialized anomalies like SCP-2630 are utilized to predict or even influence stock market trends, ensuring the Foundation remains financially dominant and "recession-proof". 2. Trade with the Anomalous World Because many anomalies cannot be contained by force alone, the Foundation engages in high-level economic trade with other paracultural groups. Marshall, Carter, and Dark Ltd. (MC&D): The Foundation’s primary economic rival and occasional trading partner. MC&D is a high-end auction house for the anomalous wealthy. The Foundation has been known to trade valuable resources—such as Amnestics (chemicals that erase memory)—to MC&D for hundreds of millions of dollars per ton when funding is tight. The Foundation often "trades" or provides resources to this group to maintain peace, provided their activities don't breach global secrecy. 3. The "Free Port" Markets In extra-dimensional trade hubs like Three Portlands or Eurtec, the Foundation operates more like a foreign government or trade embassy. Nexus Currencies: These locations often use their own anomalous currencies or barter systems that bypass traditional banking. Forbidden Goods: The Foundation monitors these markets for the sale of "K-Class" (world-ending) artifacts, often using its economic might to buy up dangerous items before criminal organizations like the Chicago Spirit can acquire them. 4. Geopolitical Subsidies While the Foundation is independent, it receives clandestine funding and logistical support from major world powers (G5/G20 nations). In exchange for global protection against "world-ending gods and monsters," these governments allow the Foundation to operate outside tax laws and national jurisdictions.

Internal Foundation Politics Political tension also exists within the Foundation itself: The Administrator : The one above all the foundation hierarchy The O5 Council: The 13 anonymous leaders often face internal power struggles, ethical debates over the use of "Class-D" personnel, and disagreements on whether to prioritize human survival or scientific discovery. Departmental Rivalries: Various departments (e.g., Ethics Committee vs. Tactical Response) frequently clash over resource allocation and operational methods.

Primary Classes These are the most common Object Classes used in SCP articles, and make up the bulk of the objects. Safe Safe-class SCP objects are anomalies that are easily and safely contained. This is often due to the fact that the Foundation has researched the SCP well enough that containment does not require significant resources or that the anomalies require a specific and conscious activation or trigger. Classifying an SCP as Safe, however, does not mean that handling or activating it does not pose a threat. Euclid Euclid-class SCP objects are anomalies that require more resources to contain completely or where containment isn't always reliable. Usually this is because the SCP is insufficiently understood or inherently unpredictable. Euclid is the Object Class with the greatest scope, and it's usually a safe bet that an SCP will be this class if it doesn't easily fall into any of the other standard Object Classes. As a note, any SCP that's autonomous or sapient is generally classified as Euclid, due to the inherent unpredictability of an object that can act or think on its own. Keter Keter-class SCP objects are anomalies that are exceedingly difficult to contain consistently or reliably, with containment procedures often being extensive and complex. The Foundation often can't contain these SCPs well due to not having a solid understanding of the anomaly, or lacking the technology to properly contain or counter it. A Keter SCP does not mean the SCP is dangerous, just that it is simply very difficult or costly to contain. Thaumiel Thaumiel-class SCP objects are anomalies that the Foundation specifically uses to contain other SCPs. Even the mere existence of Thaumiel-class objects is classified at the highest levels of the Foundation, and their locations, functions, and current status are known to few Foundation personnel outside of the O5 Council. Secondary Classes The following object classes are less frequently used, and designate anomalies with unusual containment requirements. These secondary classes may also be described as esoteric classes, in addition to many other esoteric classes used even less frequently. Apollyon Apollyon-class SCP objects are anomalies that cannot be contained, are expected to breach containment imminently, or some other similar scenario. Such anomalies are usually associated with world-ending threats or a K-Class Scenario of some kind, and require a massive effort from the Foundation to deal with. Archon Archon-class SCP objects are anomalies that could theoretically be contained but are best left uncontained for some reason. Archon SCPs may be a part of consensus reality that is difficult to fully contain, or may have adverse effects if put into containment. These SCPs are not uncontainable - the defining feature of the class is that the Foundation chooses to not put the anomaly into containment. Cernunnos Cernunnos-class SCP objects could be functionally contained, but for logistical or ethical reasons the Foundation has chosen not to at this time. The anomaly may still be partially contained or actively concealed from the public, but the costs of fully containing it are deemed to outweigh the benefits. Ticonderoga Ticonderoga-class SCP objects cannot be contained, but also do not need to be contained. While these anomalies are similar to Archon-class SCPs in that their containment is unnecessary, Ticonderoga-class SCPs are distinguished by also not being containable given the Foundation's current knowledge and resources. This may be due to their widespread or ubiquitous occurrence on Earth, despite the general public remaining unaware of their existence or anomalous nature, although the Ticonderoga class also includes extraterrestrial anomalies beyond the current reach of the Foundation. Non-Standard Object Classes Most of the following Object Classes indicate that an SCP has not yet been assigned a standard object class, or that it was previously assigned a Standard Object Class but no longer requires containment. There are also additional Object Classes that are used less frequently than the ones listed above, known as Esoteric or Narrative object classes. Explained Explained SCP objects were formerly classified as anomalies before being completely and fully understood, to the point where their effects are now explainable by mainstream science, or were falsely identified as an anomaly before being debunked as a hoax or misunderstanding. While most of these articles are listed separately as Explained SCPs, a mainlist SCP may be reclassified as Explained after further investigation into the apparent anomaly. Neutralized Neutralized SCP objects were classified as anomalies but are no longer anomalous, due to the object being intentionally or accidentally destroyed or disabled, or simply due to its anomalous properties or effects ceasing. Decommissioned Decommissioned SCP objects are anomalies that have been intentionally destroyed or stripped of their anomalous properties by the SCP Foundation. As the Foundation usually tries to contain rather than neutralize anomalous objects, this object class is only used when it is not possible to fully contain an anomaly, or when excessive expenditure of resources is required to keep an anomaly in containment. Decommissioning may also be performed for ethical reasons, particularly when containment necessitates extreme suffering or is unable to prevent excessive loss of life. To avoid any unnecessary losses, decommissioning anomalies requires authorization from a higher authority, such as the O5 Council, the Ethics Committee, or the Decommissioning Department. Pending SCP objects that have not yet been assigned an object class may be labelled as Pending. This is used to indicate that the Foundation does not currently have enough information to assign an object class to the anomaly. This is a deliberate decision to emphasize that research is ongoing, and is not the same as the author simply not knowing which object class to assign! Uncontained SCP objects that are not yet contained may be assigned an object class, often Keter, but in some articles Uncontained is used in place of an object class to emphasize that ongoing effort is required to establish or restore containment. SCP-001 The Gate Guardian (one of many proposals) Keter/Apollyon A gigantic humanoid figure wielding a flaming sword, standing near a giant structure (the 'Gate') in the Middle East. It prevents anyone from approaching the structure and acts as a protector or a harbinger of the end. SCP-049 Plague Doctor Euclid A humanoid figure in 15th-century plague doctor attire. It believes it is curing humanity of the "Great Pestilence." Its touch is lethal, causing death and subsequent reanimation as a zombie-like entity (SCP-049-2). SCP-055 [Unknown] Keter A self-keeping secret. It is impossible to remember any information about it, except for what it is not (e.g., it is not spherical, it is not blue, etc.). The Foundation knows they have it, but they can't remember what it is. SCP-096 The Shy Guy Euclid/Keter A tall, gaunt humanoid. If its face is observed, either directly or via photo/video, it enters a state of extreme distress and will rapidly pursue the observer anywhere on Earth to violently kill them. SCP-173 The Sculpture Euclid A concrete and rebar statue. When unobserved (not in a line of sight), it is extremely fast and will snap the necks of any people in its immediate vicinity. It is the original SCP. SCP-682 Hard-to-Destroy Reptile Keter A massive, hostile, and highly intelligent reptilian creature. It possesses hyper-fast regeneration and adaptation, making it impossible to destroy, despite numerous attempts by the Foundation. It hates all life . SCP-999 The Tickle Monster Euclid (Safe-leaning) A large, friendly, orange, amorphous blob of slime. It secretes a euphoria-inducing substance and enjoys tickling and comforting people. One of the Foundation's few truly benevolent SCPs. SCP-458 Never-Ending Pizza Box (Safe) A pizza box that instantly generates a hot pizza of the opener's favorite variety. SCP-529 Josie the Half-Cat (Safe) is a small housecat with gray tabby markings that appears to be missing the entire posterior half of its body. Despite the lack of hindquarters, the cat moves and behaves as if it were a complete animal, and the "severed" area is perfectly healthy and soft to the touch rather than being an open wound. It is generally friendly and enjoys interacting with Foundation staff, showing no signs of distress regarding its physical state. SCP-5113 The Life and Times of Chairman Meow and Lord Chonkington (Safe) SCP-5113 refers to two exceptionally long-lived and intelligent cats, a Maine Coon and a calico, who were discovered living in a small apartment. They displayed advanced problem-solving skills and a deep emotional bond with their owner, appearing to possess a near-human level of understanding. SCP-500 Panacea (Safe) Red pills that can cure any known disease or injury within two hours. SCP-005 Skeleton Key (Safe) An ornate key that has the anomalous ability to open any physical or digital lock. SCP-914 The Clockworks (Safe) A massive mechanical device that refines objects based on settings. SCP-662 Butler's Bell (Safe) A silver handbell that summons a butler named Mr. Deeds to fulfill almost any request. SCP-348 A Gift from Dad (Safe) A ceramic soup bowl that manifests hot soup for sick children, often with a comforting message. SCP-426 I am a Toaster (Safe) A toaster that requires anyone speaking about it to refer to it in the first person. SCP-1370 Pesterbot (Safe) A small, self-aware robot that constantly attempts to "conquer" its surroundings but is physically harmless. SCP-1048 Builder Bear (Keter) A sentient teddy bear that creates horrific replicas of itself using materials like scrap metal or organic matter. SCP-2295 The Bear with a Heart of Patchwork (Safe) A stuffed bear that heals people suffering from organ failure by producing patchwork versions of damaged organs. SCP-1313 Solve for Bear (Keter) A mathematical equation that causes a physical, agitated grizzly bear to instantly manifest when solved. SCP-2579 Grant's Magical Bears (Safe) Cybernetic bears programmed to perform coordinated dance routines to pop music. SCP-7676 The Grand Symphony of 1976 (Keter) A virulent infohazard that weaponizes nostalgia, eventually transfiguring victims into duplicates of deceased students to perform a reality-ending symphony. SCP-3000 Anantashesha Thaumiel (As previously summarized) A gigantic, hostile, amnesic-secreting eel used by the Foundation to harvest memory-wiping drugs (Y-909).
